AT FIRST GLANCE there are games that always look Tasty ATS in many publications as a Bullet trend only to trap upon further review. Since 2006, The Director has cleared the way for you to understand which team has the real ADVANTAGE against the Trend.
DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE
FIRST LOOK
Understanding how important the hype is to the Super Bowl, it is understandable that the reporters have failed to focus on the Indianapolis Colts 41-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints in Week 1 of 2007. For those of us that focus on history and trends, this is particularly important for two reasons. First, like last week's victory versus the Jets, it was the Colts dominance in the second half, outscoring the Saints 31-0, that led to victory. The other important fact was the Bush was held to only 38 rushing yard in the game as Brees had 3 interceptions versus Manning's 3 touchdowns in the game on Wayne's 115 receiving yards. Laughing at history, you may want to consider that teams that average more points per game offensively heading into the Super Bowl are 1-8-1 ATS in the last 10 games; the Saints averaging 31.9 points per game. Still laughing, the #1 seeds from the NFC are on a 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS slide since 2001. It is also important for you to know that the average score of the winning Super Bowl is 30.1 points per game with an average margin of victory of 15.4 points per game. While many have focussed on Brees and the Saints offense, few have noted that the Saints 26th ranked defense are allowing an average of 400 yards per game in their last 4 games. With the Colts arriving 20-12 ATS over the last three seasons after two consecutive victories, and the Saints arriving 4-5 ATS versus teams with winning records in the second half of the season, Manning will finish up what may be remembered as a 'Perfect' season.
