2013 Week 14 - Giants @ CHARGERS

Week 14 Preview: With the experts playing against them, today's focus is on [1] Offense: With the playoffs out of reach, will Hillis and Brown continue to help the 26th ranked Road rushing offense to spark the offense. If so, can the offense keep up its 22 points per game they have averaged in their last five games [2] Defense: After shutting down RG III in a spirited effort, can the defense halt a last gasp from a Chargers offense that is powering 399 yards per game in being outscored by 4 ppg in its last five games.

Having stumbled two weeks in a row, Sports Reporter takes it shot with it RECOMMENDED pick of SAN DIEGO over NEW YORK GIANTS by 12. The Giants don’t have the better offense; San Diego is outscoring them 24 ppg to 20 ppg. The Giants don’t have the better defense; San Diego has allowed 23.2 ppg, the Giants 25.0 ppg. Sure the Chargers have allowed 388 yards per game to the Giants’ 333, but they don’t pay off for yards, only points. The Giants don’t have the better special teams; if they did, they wouldn’t have allowed a punt return for a TD every other time you look up at one of their games. So, losing the check mark in all three units, where is this road underdog gonna find what it takes to cover the pointspread during the course of a second straight road game, against a stranger they play once every four years? The Chargers have been playing their butts off lately but falling just short most of the time. They are only 5-7, but still alive for a Wild Card with three home games in the final four on the schedule. Ken Whisenhunt, their offensive coordinator, has watched the New York defense while head coach of the Arizona Cardinals and probably likes his offensive line and quarterback against the current version of the Giants’ defense. It’s a vast difference from the solid Cincinnati defense that held the Chargers in check last Sunday (and had faced San Diego last year). SAN DIEGO, 31-19.
